Those who consider this soul to kill and those who consider it to die are both ignorant. This soul neither dies nor is killed. When a living being in a body is wounded by a deadly weapon, the living being inside that body is not considered dead. The soul is very small. It is not possible to kill it with any physical weapon. This will become clear in the following verses. Due to its own spiritual nature, the soul cannot be killed. What is considered dead and what is killed is only the body. It does not mean encouraging the body to kill. "Ma hinsyat sarvabhutani" means, "Do not kill any living being" is the precept of the Vedas. It is not encouraged to do violence to animals because living beings cannot be killed. Unlawful killing of any living being is reprehensible and this act is punishable by the law of the state and also by the law of God.
जसले यो जीवात्मालाई मार्ने ठान्दछ र जसले यसलाई मर्नेवाला ठान्दछ ती दुवै अज्ञानी हुन् । यो आत्मा न मर्दछ न मारिन्छ । कुनै शरीरधारण गरेको जीवात्मा एउटा घातक हतियारबाट घाइते हुँदा उक्त शरीरभित्र रहेको जीवात्मा मरेको मानिँदैन । आत्मा साह्रै सानो छ । कुनै भौतिक हतियारले यसलाई मार्न सम्भव छैन । यो कुरा आगामी श्लोकहरूमा स्पष्ट हुनेछ । आफ्नै आध्यात्मिक स्वरूपका कारणले जीवात्मा मार्न नसिकने छ । जसलाई मरेको मानिन्छ र जसलाई मारिन्छ त्यो शरीर मात्र हो । यसको अर्थ शरीरलाई मार्न प्रोत्साहित गर्नु होइन । “ मा हिंस्यात् सर्वभूतानि " अर्थात , कुनै पनि जीवात्मालाई नमार भन्ने वेदको उपदेश छ । जीवात्मा मार्न नसकिने छ भनेर पशुहरूको हिंसा गर्न प्रोत्साहन दिइएको पनि होइन । अनाधिकार कुनै पनि जीवको हत्या गर्नु निन्दनीय हो र यो काम राज्यको कानुन र भगवान्को कानुनद्वारा पनि दण्डनीय छ ।
